How To Make Kids Crafts

How To Make Kids Crafts

So often we think about complicated crafts when we are wondering about "How To Make Kids Crafts" and there is no need! I have just done one of the oldest and simplest crafts with Anabel, my 5 year old granddaughter and realized again how they enjoy the simple things. She also found spreading melted chocolate onto Marie Biscuits surprisingly difficult and it was excellent exercise for those small motor skills

What you need for this craft:

  • A Packet of Marie Biscuits (any other undecorated biscuits will do)
  • One slab of melted white chocolate
  • Different cake sprinkles
  • Jelly tots

How to do this craft:

Spread the chocolate on the biscuits and decorate with the sprinkles and jelly tots.

As easy as that and a lot of fun for the little ones. I think licking of fingers is the best part! Believe me a lot of chocolate will land on the little one's fingers.

Toddler Crafts That Don't Require Any Scissors

Toddler Crafts That Don't Require Any Scissors

Crafts are good for kids. They can keep them productively occupied while you're doing work around the house, or give you something to do together. Crafting helps kids learn new skills and gives them a sense of accomplishment.

Crafting is especially good for small children. They can gain hand-eye coordination, learn about shapes and colors, and more. But most crafts require the use of scissors, which can be difficult for a toddler to use properly. Even the small, blunt children's scissors can be too much of a challenge.

However, there are some crafts that your toddler can create without scissors. Here are a few to choose from:

1. Pipe cleaner crafts

Making things out of pipe cleaners is lots of fun, and it doesn't require any scissors. And it's not messy, either. Pipe cleaners are the only supplies needed. Your child can make people, animals, flowers and more out of colorful pipe cleaners.

2. Finger painting

Finger painting can be very messy, but kids love it and it doesn't require scissors or anything else that could be dangerous. It also provides parents with some nice art for the wall or refrigerator. Just outfit your child with a smock, cover the area with newspapers, and let him create a masterpiece.

3. Stickers

Kids love stickers, so why not let them make their own? You can find stickers with outlines that your child can color in at discount stores, or you can buy blank ones and let your child decorate them as he wishes. In a pinch, you could even give your child blank printer labels to decorate for use as stickers. Washable markers and glitter glue will minimize the mess factor.

4. Sculpting

Sculpture is a wonderful art for kids. They can make figurines, paperweights and more using only their hands and some Play-Doh. There's no baking required, and Play-Doh is non-toxic.

5. Magnets

Refrigerator magnets are both fun to make and useful. There are all sorts of ways your child can make them without using scissors. Clothespin magnets are great for holding shopping lists and other important notes. To make them, simply let your child decorate clothespins with magic markers. Then attach a self-adhesive magnet to the back. Magnets can also be created with Play-Doh, clay, seashells, or inkjet business cards. Virtually anything that is not too heavy will work.

These are just a few of the crafts your toddler can create without the use of scissors. You can find even more ideas online and in kids' craft books. And if you cut the materials before giving them to your child, there are even more things he can create. So don't avoid crafting with your child just because he can't use scissors. There are plenty of things he can make without them.

Kids Crafts To Make - Teaching kids to preserve memories through scrapbook

Kids Crafts To Make - Teaching kids to preserve memories through scrapbook

Memories are always meant to be preserved because these will remind people of the good experiences they had in their life times. In order to preserve good memories and experiences, more and more parents encourage their children to create their own scrapbooks at such an early age so they can keep their childhood memories intact.

Indeed, scrapbooking is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways of keeping memories safe and fun to look at. By collecting and keeping bits and pieces of memories together, anybody can create and tell a story. For children, scrapbooking can be a learning experience because this can teach them the value of resourcefulness, creativity, patience, and perseverance.

Getting Started

Scrapbooking is one enjoyable activity you can share with your kids. It can also be one of those activities they can share with their playmates and friends. But, before you get excited in starting to teach your kids the beauty of scrapbooking, there are some things you need to consider.

1. The first thing to consider in encouraging your kids to get into scrapbooking is their interest in the craft

If your child is one of those who are into arts and into collecting mementos to create another work of art. Then she or he is the perfect candidate for the activity because she/he already has the drive and the creativity to create another masterpiece.

2. What it your kid is not interested in crafts?

But if your child is not yet interested with crafts and arts, it doesn’t mean he/she cannot indulge into scrapbooking. In fact, this is the perfect time to introduce him/her into a new world of exciting and enjoyable activity.

3. Consider the available space:

Aside from the interest of your child in crafts and arts, another thing you need to consider is the availability of space where your kids can do the activity. Since scrapbooking requires a lot of materials, you will need a space big enough for them to sprawl and to scatter the materials they will use for making the scrapbook. It is advisable that you provide a space where kids can do their scrapbook and a place where they can leave their stuff.

4. Next, you need to consider the amount of materials your child will need.

Since you are about to teach him /her basic scrapbooking, you will need the materials which you can find in the four walls of your house.

Here’s a quick list of the materials and supplies your kid needs:

  • Paper or scrapbook paper usually 12x12 in size
  • Pens and colored pencils
  • Photos
  • Scrapbooking die-cuts and cut-outs
  • Scrapbooking tools such as punchers
  • Scissors
  • Trimmers and rulers
  • Stamps – rubber, clear and foam
  • Adhesives and removers
  • Stickers of different designs, color, and sizes
  • Tags
  • Different templates
  • Totes and organizers
  • Transparencies
  • Albums and old scrapbooks
  • Alphabets
  • Books and scrapbooking magazines for scrapbook ideas
  • Old cards
  • Embellishments such as eyelets, brads, nails and tacks
  • Colored and specialty papers
  • Scrapbook apparels such as scrapbook kits for starters.

Here are some cost saving tips for parents who wish to teach their children scrapbooking but don’t have the means to buy expensive scrapbooking supplies and materials:

1. Gather old pictures and let your kids scrap the photos you no longer need.

2. Whenever you go to the developing center, ask for the double prints and let your children experiment with the doubles.

3. After completing a specific project, make sure that you put the leftovers and unused scraps in a container so the kids can use it for another scrapbooking session.

4. Go over your old stuff and bring out the supplies you will no longer use.

5. Guide the kids in making scrapbooks so they will not consume supplies, time and effort in doing projects they cannot use.

Bible School Crafts: An Invitation To A Wedding Bible School Craft

Bible School Crafts: An Invitation To A Wedding Bible School Craft

This is one of our bible school crafts that the kids love doing and it is great fun. The kids make a "Wedding Invitation" card with the invitation on the one side of the card and the Bible verse on the other side. Our "Invitation To A Wedding" craft is for the kids that are a little older and who knows what a wedding invitation looks like, and that are able to write the invitations as well as the bible verse at the back.

The Bible Verse: Joh. 2:11 This act in Cana of Galilee was the first sign Jesus gave, the first glimpse of his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

What you need for this bible school craft:
  • Good quality paper to cut the cards from

  • Thick glue

  • Paint brush to brush the glue on with

  • Different colors confetti

  • Black felt tipped pens

  • A ruler

  • A pencil

What you will need for variation one:
  • Small pictures of flowers

  • Small pictures of wedding bells

What you will need for variation two:
  • Good quality glossy paint

  • Paint brushes

How to do this craft:
  1. Cut cards from the poster paper to the size of a large wedding invitation card.

  2. Draw a broad border with the pencil and ruler around the one side of the card.

  3. Write an invitation to a wedding in the middle of the card on the side that you drew the border on.

  4. Write the bible verse on the other side of the card.

  5. Paint the border that you drew with the tick glue and sprinkle the confetti on to completely caver the border.

  6. Leave the card to dry for at least an hour.

Variations:
  1. In stead of the confetti the border can also be made "collage" style with small pictures of flowers and wedding bells cut from magazines.

  2. Another variation, if the kids are older and a little more artistic, is for the kids to decorate the border by painting a decorative design on it.

This bible school craft is one of the bible school crafts that give the kids something really beautiful to take home as a keepsake. It might be a good idea to make a decorated box at the beginning of the school, for the kids to keep all the crafts in that they want to keep for taking home.
