Fun Kids Crafts - What Can I Make Out of Recycled Material?

Fun Kids Crafts - What Can I Make Out of Recycled Material?

Here is an idea to keep in mind when you are looking at Fun Kids Crafts. Recycling is good for the environment. It reduces the amount of trash in landfills and saves natural resources. And for crafters, recycled items can make great supplies for projects. Empty containers, worn out clothes, old greeting cards and other items that usually end up in the trash present a wealth of crafting opportunities.

Paper Maché

Paper maché is a craft that requires recycled materials. Newspaper is cut into strips and dipped into paste to create piñatas and other works of art. It's a little messy, but it's very easy to do.

To make the paste, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add a mixture of 1/2 cup of flour and 2 cups of cold water. Bring to a boil again, remove from heat and stir in 3 tablespoons of sugar. Let cool.

Newspaper strips are usually dipped into the paste and applied to an inflated balloon. When the balloon is covered, it is hung up to dry. Once dry, the balloon is popped and embellishments are added to finish the project.

There is no end to the amount of Fun Kids Crafts you can do with paper maché! Go to our site, the page Easy Kids Crafts: Bible Crafts: Creation Story and have a look!

Candle Holders

It's easy to make candle holders out of empty baby food jars. All you have to do is remove the label and decorate as you please. Use paint, ribbon, gems and other items. Add a tealight or votive candle, and you have a beautiful, thoughtful and inexpensive gift.

Maracas

Kids love stuff that makes noise, so this is a great craft for them. Just put some dried beans in a clean used paper or plastic cup. Use enough to make some noise but not so many that they do not have room to move around. Glue the mouth of another cup to the mouth of the first cup and let dry. Decorate if desired.

Gift and Storage Boxes

Old shoeboxes can be transformed into beautiful gift or storage boxes. Just use some contact paper to cover them up. Decorate with rubber stamps, paint, ribbon and other embellishments. These can be used to store photos and other keepsakes, used to present gifts, or given as gifts themselves.

Pencil Holders

You can make a pencil holder out of a number of recycled materials. Tin cans with the tops removed are nice and sturdy. Plastic, styrofoam and paper cups also work well, but may not last as long. The cardboard tubes found in the middle of tissue rolls can even work if you cover one end of them with a flat piece of cardboard.

Recycled items can be used to make lovely crafts to keep or give as gifts. They're good for the budget and for the environment. The next time you need craft supplies, take a look at the things you've been tossing out. You might find that you already have what you need!

Before you throw something out, always think of the possible Fun Kids Crafts First, you never know when you will need it!

Nature Craft: Making Twig Creations

Fun Kids Crafts - Nature Craft: Making Twig Creations

It's amazing how many things we can find in nature to use in crafts. Pine cones can be used in bird feeders, home-made potpourri and all sorts of other things. Leaves and flowers can be dried or pressed for a variety of uses. Even twigs can be used to make beautiful, rustic crafts.

This twig creations project makes a great gift and costs next to nothing to make. Kids can easily make it with a little help from an adult. The finished product can be used to hold candy, pencils, office supplies or any other small objects. So, this makes it a very suitable fun kids craft.

Supplies

  • Used tin can (use a can opener that removes the entire top of the can, leaving no sharp edges)
  • Twigs
  • Yard clippers
  • Glue (a hot glue gun works best, but other kinds may work too)
  • Dried leaves and/or flowers
  • Ribbon

Instructions

  1. Wash out the tin can thoroughly. Remove the label and wash the outside as well.
  2. Use the yard clippers to clip the twigs to about the same length as the height of the can. You can make them all uniform or vary the lengths slightly for a more rustic look.
  3. Glue the twigs around the can vertically. Cover the entire outside. Let dry.
  4. Arrange dried flowers and/or leaves on the outside of the can and glue them in place.
  5. Tie a ribbon around the can and secure with glue. Let dry.

Preparing the Flowers

Before you use flowers for crafts, they need to be dried. One of the easiest ways to do so is to press them. Simply place them in the middle of a heavy hardcover book and leave them for about two weeks. Or if you don't want to wait that long, buy a flower press. Most can be used in the oven or microwave, making pressing quick and easy. Just be sure to read the directions carefully to avoid damaging the flowers.

If you do not want your flowers to be flat, you'll need to dry them a different way. One way to do this is to hang them upside-down in bundles. Place them in a well-ventilated area, and leave them for ten to fourteen days.

Flowers may also be dried in silica gel, borax or sand. To do this, place the flowers upside-down in a box full of either of these drying agents. Gently sift some of the sand, borax or silica gel onto the flower heads until covered, and leave in a warm, dry place for two weeks.

When the flowers are dry, spray them with hairspray. This will help them retain their color and provide some protection from breakage. Keep the finished craft out of sunlight and away from extreme heat to protect the flowers.

How to Make a Flower Crown

How to Make a Flower Crown

Spring flowers are a favorite theme for spring crafts. They're so pretty and colorful, and they can be incorporated into all sorts of projects, from simple to advanced. For young children, a flower crown is the perfect craft to welcome this highly anticipated season.

This craft is ideal for those rainy day blues. It will remind kids that all of that rain may be no fun right now, but it produces some beautiful results.

Flower crowns are also great projects for girls' birthday parties and sleepovers. They're simple, quick and inexpensive to make. To save time, you could do the measuring and cutting ahead of time and provide the materials to decorate the crowns.

Supplies

  • Paper plate
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or Exacto knife
  • Markers, crayons or paint
  • Plastic jewels
  • Ribbon
  • Construction paper
  • Glue

Instructions

  1. Paint the paper plate a solid color if desired. Keep in mind that the bottom of the plate will be on top of the finished crown. Let dry.
  2. Using the ruler, mark the center of the paper plate. Draw a straight line through the center, beginning and ending about an inch from the plate's edge.
  3. Draw another line perpendicular to the first, again starting and ending an inch from the edge. The plate should now be divided into four equal sections.
  4. Draw two more lines to create a total of eight equal sections.
  5. Cut along the lines you've just drawn. If using scissors, fold the plate slightly and make a small cut in the center to start. An Exacto knife works nicely as well, but should be used by an adult only.
  6. Once all of the lines are cut, there will be eight triangles in the center of the plate. Holding the plate upside-down, bend each triangle upward, creasing so that it will stand on its own.
  7. Decorate your crown as you like. Add color with paint, markers or crayons. Glue on ribbon tails and add embellishments such as plastic jewels.
  8. Cut eight flower shapes out of various colors of construction paper. For daisy-type flowers, cut circles out of a contrasting color and glue them in the center of the flower shape. Add some glitter if desired.
  9. Glue a flower to the tip of each triangle on the crown. Let dry.

These flower crowns are sure to put a smile on any little girl's face. And with some minor modifications, there are some other great crowns that could be made too. Instead of flowers girls and boys could adorn their crowns with cars, animals or anything else they can make out of construction paper. Eggs could be used for Easter crowns for boys and girls, or shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day.

How To Make Kids Crafts - Fingerprint Flowers

How To Make Kids Crafts - Fingerprint Flowers

To make kids crafts always is a very special time with your kids. Crafts from kids tend to hold a special place in our hearts. Even the simplest projects make treasured keepsakes that we hold on to for years to come. And when those crafts capture a piece of childhood, they are especially meaningful.

This is why handprint plaque kits are so popular. Those tiny hands may never be that tiny again, but the finished project will always evoke memories of when they were.

There are a number of variations on the handprint theme. There is wall art that features handprints immortalized in finger paint, and there's the perennial Thanksgiving turkey that's made from a cardboard cutout traced around a hand. For spring, fingerprint flowers make an adorable keepsake. They're ideal for Mother's Day, Grandparents' Day or Easter, or to give "just because."

This is a great craft to make for kids, and it is suitable for children from preschool age up. Younger children can also do it with some help from a parent or older sibling.

The Supplies You Will Need:

  • Construction paper
  • Acrylic paint
  • Green chenille stems or drinking straws (if you don't have either of these things handy, painting some craft sticks green will work as well)
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Styrofoam cup
  • Buttons, pom poms and/or stick-on jewels (optional)
  • Floral foam

Instructions for This Crafts:

  1. Draw a small flower shape on a piece of construction paper. Make sure the petals are large enough for a child's fingerprint. Cut out.
  2. Trace the flower shape you've just cut out onto construction paper in various colors. Cut these flower shapes out.
  3. Dip the child's finger into paint. Remove excess paint, then press the finger onto each petal.
  4. Remove all paint from the finger, then dip it in a contrasting color. Press the finger into the center of the flower.
  5. Repeat for each flower, and let all flowers dry.
  6. Cut a green chenille stem in half. Glue the end to the back of the flower. Let glue dry.
  7. Paint the styrofoam cup in a bright color. Let dry. Decorate by painting designs on it or gluing on pom poms, buttons or stick-on jewels. Let paint and/or glue dry.
  8. Glue a piece of floral foam to the inside of the cup. Let dry.
  9. Poke holes into the floral foam and stick the flower stems into them. Secure with a small amount of glue. Let dry.

That's all there is to it! This is an ideal example of how to make kids crafts. This simple yet adorable craft is sure to be a hit with kids, and it makes a wonderful gift. It also makes a great decoration for spring parties. You could have your child make lots of flowers and put some floral foam into a larger container to make a whimsical centerpiece. Or kids could make several of them to add to place settings at a small gathering. The possibilities, to make kids crafts, are endless.

Do you need more crafts? Stop spending all your time on looking for crafts, spend time doing them with the kids. Have a look at a good e-book such as Fun Kids Crafts and you will have all the crafts you need. You will never have to look for a craft again!

Kids Crafts To Make - Teaching kids to preserve memories through scrapbook

Kids Crafts To Make - Teaching kids to preserve memories through scrapbook

Memories are always meant to be preserved because these will remind people of the good experiences they had in their life times. In order to preserve good memories and experiences, more and more parents encourage their children to create their own scrapbooks at such an early age so they can keep their childhood memories intact.

Indeed, scrapbooking is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways of keeping memories safe and fun to look at. By collecting and keeping bits and pieces of memories together, anybody can create and tell a story. For children, scrapbooking can be a learning experience because this can teach them the value of resourcefulness, creativity, patience, and perseverance.

Getting Started

Scrapbooking is one enjoyable activity you can share with your kids. It can also be one of those activities they can share with their playmates and friends. But, before you get excited in starting to teach your kids the beauty of scrapbooking, there are some things you need to consider.

1. The first thing to consider in encouraging your kids to get into scrapbooking is their interest in the craft

If your child is one of those who are into arts and into collecting mementos to create another work of art. Then she or he is the perfect candidate for the activity because she/he already has the drive and the creativity to create another masterpiece.

2. What it your kid is not interested in crafts?

But if your child is not yet interested with crafts and arts, it doesn’t mean he/she cannot indulge into scrapbooking. In fact, this is the perfect time to introduce him/her into a new world of exciting and enjoyable activity.

3. Consider the available space:

Aside from the interest of your child in crafts and arts, another thing you need to consider is the availability of space where your kids can do the activity. Since scrapbooking requires a lot of materials, you will need a space big enough for them to sprawl and to scatter the materials they will use for making the scrapbook. It is advisable that you provide a space where kids can do their scrapbook and a place where they can leave their stuff.

4. Next, you need to consider the amount of materials your child will need.

Since you are about to teach him /her basic scrapbooking, you will need the materials which you can find in the four walls of your house.

Here’s a quick list of the materials and supplies your kid needs:

  • Paper or scrapbook paper usually 12x12 in size
  • Pens and colored pencils
  • Photos
  • Scrapbooking die-cuts and cut-outs
  • Scrapbooking tools such as punchers
  • Scissors
  • Trimmers and rulers
  • Stamps – rubber, clear and foam
  • Adhesives and removers
  • Stickers of different designs, color, and sizes
  • Tags
  • Different templates
  • Totes and organizers
  • Transparencies
  • Albums and old scrapbooks
  • Alphabets
  • Books and scrapbooking magazines for scrapbook ideas
  • Old cards
  • Embellishments such as eyelets, brads, nails and tacks
  • Colored and specialty papers
  • Scrapbook apparels such as scrapbook kits for starters.

Here are some cost saving tips for parents who wish to teach their children scrapbooking but don’t have the means to buy expensive scrapbooking supplies and materials:

1. Gather old pictures and let your kids scrap the photos you no longer need.

2. Whenever you go to the developing center, ask for the double prints and let your children experiment with the doubles.

3. After completing a specific project, make sure that you put the leftovers and unused scraps in a container so the kids can use it for another scrapbooking session.

4. Go over your old stuff and bring out the supplies you will no longer use.

5. Guide the kids in making scrapbooks so they will not consume supplies, time and effort in doing projects they cannot use.

Bible School Crafts: An Invitation To A Wedding Bible School Craft

Bible School Crafts: An Invitation To A Wedding Bible School Craft

This is one of our bible school crafts that the kids love doing and it is great fun. The kids make a "Wedding Invitation" card with the invitation on the one side of the card and the Bible verse on the other side. Our "Invitation To A Wedding" craft is for the kids that are a little older and who knows what a wedding invitation looks like, and that are able to write the invitations as well as the bible verse at the back.

The Bible Verse: Joh. 2:11 This act in Cana of Galilee was the first sign Jesus gave, the first glimpse of his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

What you need for this bible school craft:
  • Good quality paper to cut the cards from

  • Thick glue

  • Paint brush to brush the glue on with

  • Different colors confetti

  • Black felt tipped pens

  • A ruler

  • A pencil

What you will need for variation one:
  • Small pictures of flowers

  • Small pictures of wedding bells

What you will need for variation two:
  • Good quality glossy paint

  • Paint brushes

How to do this craft:
  1. Cut cards from the poster paper to the size of a large wedding invitation card.

  2. Draw a broad border with the pencil and ruler around the one side of the card.

  3. Write an invitation to a wedding in the middle of the card on the side that you drew the border on.

  4. Write the bible verse on the other side of the card.

  5. Paint the border that you drew with the tick glue and sprinkle the confetti on to completely caver the border.

  6. Leave the card to dry for at least an hour.

Variations:
  1. In stead of the confetti the border can also be made "collage" style with small pictures of flowers and wedding bells cut from magazines.

  2. Another variation, if the kids are older and a little more artistic, is for the kids to decorate the border by painting a decorative design on it.

This bible school craft is one of the bible school crafts that give the kids something really beautiful to take home as a keepsake. It might be a good idea to make a decorated box at the beginning of the school, for the kids to keep all the crafts in that they want to keep for taking home.

Kids Craft Ideas - Crafting With Your Toddler

Kids Craft Ideas - Crafting With Your Toddler

With toddlers in the house you need lots of Kids Craft Ideas. One thing that most toddlers have in common is that they love to make things. Simple projects keep their minds occupied and give them a sense of accomplishment. Crafting can also be extremely helpful in developing hand-eye coordination as well as small motor skills.

Crafting with your toddler is fun and rewarding for both of you. Here are some kids craft ideas that are appropriate for a toddler's skill level and attention span.

1. Paper bag puppets

This craft is fun to make and fun to play with when it's done. Your child can make a simple one that requires no scissors or small parts by drawing a face on the base of the bag with crayons or markers. If you want to go more elaborate, you could help your child add googly eyes and construction paper ears, noses and limbs.

2. Floating sailboats

It's easy to make a sailboat with your toddler. Simply use a ball of Play Doh to stand a drinking straw up on the inside of a margarine tub lid. Cut a right-angled triangle out of construction paper for the sail, decorate it, and punch three holes along the edge. Weave the straw through the holes, and you have a new toy sailboat.

3. Paper plate masks

Making masks out of paper plates is very easy for toddlers with a little adult help. Just cut two eye holes, and punch a hole in each side. Thread some elastic through these holes and tie the ends, and let your child decorate the mask as he chooses.

4. Pipe cleaner figurines

Pipe cleaners are very easy for toddlers to work with. With a little guidance, they can use them to make all sorts of animals, people and things.

5. Coin bank

Every toddler needs a bank to put his money in. He can create his own using an empty oatmeal box or other cylindrical box with a lid. You'll need to cut a slot in the lid, but he can do most of the rest by himself. Just have him decorate a piece of construction paper (that you've cut to the right size) with markers, stickers, and other items, and help him glue it around the box.

6. Painting

Young artists love to paint. It can, however, get messy, so be sure to cover the work area with newspapers and the child's clothing with a smock. Finger painting is one of the most popular art forms among toddlers, but they also love watercolors.

Crafting is a great way for toddlers and their parents to have fun together. It's a great way to fight boredom and teach your child important skills. You can almost certainly find enough materials around the house to help your child create something, so there's no reason that your child can't craft any time he wishes to. Now you can see how easy it is to come up with kids crafts ideas to keep your toddler busy and entertained.

Ceramics the Whole Family Will Enjoy

Ceramics For The Whole Family To Do

Kids Crafts can be done any many different ways. Try and incorporate crafts you would not normally think of for kids.

It's so rewarding to make a ceramic piece from scratch. There's just something spectacular about watching it go from raw clay to a beautiful, finished product. It makes it hard to stop at one piece.

Getting the whole family in on the creation of ceramic groupings is a great way to bond while making something together. If each person does one or two pieces, you can end up with a nice collection or scene. Or some members can do the shaping and firing, and the others can do the painting.

Here are some ceramic projects that the whole family can participate in and enjoy and that therefore make excellent Kids Crafts:

* Nativity scenes - One of the most popular kinds of ceramic groupings for Christmas, a nativity scene is a great family project. Once the actual pieces are done, you could build a wooden barn together and add hay for added authenticity.

* Halloween groupings - There are all sorts of possibilities for Halloween. You could do a group of trick or treaters with different costumes, some whimsical ghosts, bats or spiders, or jack-o-lantern candleholders with different faces.

* Pottery - Kids are often intrigued by pottery wheels, so why not let them try their hand at using one? They may need a little help, but they can make simple pieces fairly easily. Creating a pottery grouping with coordinating pieces could be a great family project.

* Wall hangings - Groups of ceramic wall hangings make lovely decorations. Each family member could create one with a favorite quote or a hand-carved design on it. How about having each person carve a picture of his or her favorite animal or flower?

* Coasters and trivets - Coasters and trivets are quite simple to make, and they're really useful. Making a set as a family is a great project if you have young children. Handmade coasters and trivets also make nice gifts, so make several sets for the holidays.

* Refrigerator magnets - This is another easy project, because it provides a great deal of freedom. As long as the ceramic piece isn't so heavy as to weigh the magnet down, it doesn't have to be perfectly flat and doesn't matter what shape it is. Take pictures while the family is making them, and when the magnets are done, hang the pictures up with them to remind everyone how much fun it was.

Ceramic groupings and sets are fun to make, and they're even more fun when you get the whole family involved. Even young children can create simple ceramic pieces. Whether you're making them to give as gifts or keep around the house, a ceramic set made by your entire family will always be a source of fond memories.

Kids Crafts Ideas: Shoe Crafts

Here is one of our really fun kids' crafts ideas, decorating your shoes! Kids love this kind of crafts because they can actually use it afterwards.

No outfit is complete without the right pair of shoes. You must not think it is more so for adults than kids. Kids' idea of the right shoes may differ from that of adults though. On thing I know is kids love shoes. My little granddaughter is only 4 but she has a serious love affair with shoes. I have never seen any kid with more shoes than she has and still it is a major fight not to buy more.

Funky, embellished shoes are quite popular among the younger set, especially the younger kids. This provides a great opportunity to bring out kids' creativity! Here are some shoe crafts that your kids will love (and that you can enjoy with them as well).

Here are a few tips on how you can implement this kids crafts ideas:

1. You Can Spruce Up Your Shoelaces

Colorful shoelaces can add pizzazz to any pair of sneakers. You can easily tie-dye shoelaces by mixing two or more colors of fabric paint with an equal amount of warm water. Tie knots in the laces about an inch apart, and then dip each individual section into the dye, alternating colors. This can get messy, so be sure to cover the work area and protect the kids' clothing!

There is an even simpler way to decorate your shoelaces, use fine-tipped markers. Sharpies are the best, because they are permanent. And they now come in lots of different colors, so you can use them to make your laces extra colorful.

2. Have Fun Making Your Own Charms

We all know shoelace charms look great on sneakers. There are kits available that have everything you need to make your own shoelace charms. You can also buy individual supplies at your local craft store or online.

If you love your Crocks, making your own snap-in charms can really be a lot of fun. Using Fimo clay, you can make any kind of charm you can imagine. You can paint it with acrylic paint once it's dry. There are also rubber plugs that you can buy online or in craft stores to glue to the back of any kind of charm. Using these, you can make charms out of virtually any type of material, including plastic, metal, and rubber.

3. For Lots Of Fun, Paint Your Shoes

Especially for the little ones, one of the simplest ways to make shoes unique is to paint them. This works well for many types of flip flops, as well as cloth sneakers. All you need is some fabric paint and a pencil to get started. Just draw your design on with a pencil, and when it's just right, fill it in with paint.

You can add flair to your painted shoes by adding some studs or colorful rhinestones. These provide nice, sparkly accents. The stick-on kind may work, but they tend to come off easily, especially when you put them on something you're going to wear. A Bedazzler will attach them much more securely.

Decorating your shoes is a fun way for kids to express their individuality. It's also a great kid's crafts project to do with the family or friends. With just a few simple craft supplies, they can have hours of fun making their shoes unique.

With this kid's crafts ideas I'm sure I'm going to buy less shoes for Anabel and get her decorating the old ones instead to make them new again. Enjoy this fun kid's craft.

Crafts For Kids: How to Come up With a Craft Idea for Kid Programs

Crafts For Kids: How to Come up With a Craft Idea for Kid Programs

Did your search for Crafts for Kids get you to this blog? Are you looking for crafts ideas for kid's enrichment? Maybe you feel like you are just not the creative type, and you struggle with coming up with craft projects. It is true that some people just have a knack for finding or even inventing craft ideas, but your creativity can be improved. There are ways to make it easier to find a craft idea for kid needs.

I think one of the best ways are to get a really good kids crafts e-book. If you are a Sunday school teacher you will fin excellent Bible crafts on page 8 of the e-book Fun Kids Crafts E-Book. For moms and teacher you will also find very good Easy Kids on page 86. Fun Kids Crafts has crafts for every occasion and every stage. Go and Have a Look at Fun Kids Crafts E-Book.

Tips for finding kids crafts:

1. Lay aside any perfectionism

Locking yourself into thinking there is only one right way to do something makes every decision harder. Regardless of the kid program you are helping with, there are always many suitable craft ideas out there. Don't worry about picking the wrong one! If you've taken into consideration the age and skill levels of the kids involved, your choice will be adequate.

2. Consider your budget

When choosing a craft idea for kid programs, you need to be aware that some of them are expensive. Prepackaged kits to make a fun foam picture frame or a craft stick cross are affordable for a few kids, but if you are needing to do a craft with a lot of kids, these kits might cost too much. It's often easy to do almost exactly the same project by just looking at the craft kit components and buying the same materials in bulk at the discount store. You may have to do some preparation, like cutting out shapes ahead of time, or at least making cardboard patterns for the kids to use in cutting out their own. The savings will be worth it, however.

3. Different crafts for boys and girls

In spite of years of indoctrination from women's libbers, the fact remains that boys and girls like different sorts of crafts! If the craft seems a little girly, don't use it at boys' camp. Stick with lace-up leather billfolds, Indian artifacts, dinosaur art, and similar projects. Girls will like beads and anything that's pink or purple. For a craft idea for kid camp where there are kids of both sexes, keep it on the boyish side and provide some pink materials to keep the girls happy.

4. Let ideas spring from examples

An aspect of creativity that the non-creative types don't realize is that ideas spring from other ideas. That is, if you look over a book or website of craft ideas, maybe none of them will appeal to you, but if you let them, they will spark an idea for a similar project. Use what you can and change what you must in the craft directions. For instance, the craft may have a slogan to be written across the front. If you need to change the slogan to fit your own needs, it's perfectly OK. For instance, the pictured project might say "Girls rock!" You can change that to "He is the Rock!" if that meets your VBS needs better.

5. Follow the instruction if you find it easier

A final suggestion is to realize that you don't have to change the instructions or create something new to have a good craft idea for kid use. Feel free to follow the instructions to the letter if that works better for you. The kids will have a great time either way. Just pick a craft idea, for kid creativity beats adult creativity every time! The kids will make it creative, even if you have doubts about your own ability in this area.

Food Crafts For Kids - Make Your Own Soda

This is one of our easy Food Crafts For Kids that is maybe more of a science lesson than a crafts. With this craft the kids will see how the acid in the juice reacts with the alkaline bicarbonate of soda. In this easy food craft for kids they make a simple lemon and orange soda that is good enough to drink.

What you need for this craft:

  • 2 Cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 Cups freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 Teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
  • 4 Teaspoons of sugar
  • 4 Cups of water

How to do this craft:

  1. Mix the juices and the water.
  2. Add the sugar and stir until melted.
  3. Add the bicarbonate of soda and stir (observe the bubbles as the carbon dioxide forms as a result of the bicarbonate of soda reacting with the juice.)
  4. Your soda drink is ready to drink.

You have to drink the soda immediately as the bubbles will disappear fast when the reaction stops.

This craft is an example of the many food crafts for kids that is more than just fun, it is a science lesson as well.
